French finds meet modern pieces to create an assortment of style in Tanya’s refurbished period family home in Tullamore.
What’s hidden behind the elegant facade of this three-storey over basement town house, on the high street in Tullamore, is anyone’s guess, but the pink front door gives a clue that something a little different may lie beyond. On entering the house you are at once struck by its individuality, with a nod towards the vintage style of the 1900’s Parisian salons, it’s full of rich colours and character. Home to Tanya, a design consultant, her husband George, a chartered surveyor and their daughter Willow, the family were keen to move from their two bedroom terrace in Dublin in favour of a bigger home. It was the location and style of the house that drew the couple to this property. Tanya had grown up in a protected structure of a similar age located just around the corner, the style of this house had similarities to her family home, the proportions, the lovely shutters, the sash windows and the cornicing to name but a few. ‘We happened upon the house by chance, we were actually viewing another property beside it. When we walked in, on first viewing, it instantly gave me memories, it just felt like home,’ explains Tanya.
