Winter Sun

Our travel guru Marty O’Neill shares some of his favourite places to enjoy a spot of sunshine during the winter months.

It’s at this time of year when the nights draw in, the weather turns cold and crisp and the daylight hours are few, that many of you ask me about the best place to go for some winter sunshine.  Sadly if you’re looking guaranteed sunshine and heat, you really need to look a little further afield than mainland Europe but here are a few of my favourite winter hotspots, near and far, with direct flights from Belfast and Dublin. You can be lucky with southern Europe throughout the winter months, with temperatures often in the high teens and sunny but it’s risky. Yes it’s much more settled than the UK and Ireland but if you’re like me and you want the cost of your holiday to deliver as much sun and fun as you’re anticipating then read on for more hints and tips to top up that all-important Vitamin D.
