July 2016 – Issue 253 – Summer Special
In our Summer Special, we are embracing the outdoor life and looking at ways to make the most out of your outdoor space for eating, drinking and relaxing this summer, and indeed when the weather allows all year round! With this in mind, we take a look at garden rooms, and offer useful advice on the different ways you can create an outdoor room; from actual builds to creating an illusion with rugs and gazebos. We even look at outdoor kitchens, whether a standalone barbecue or more elaborate cooking space within your garden.
Whatever garden space you have to play with, you are going to need some lovely outdoor furniture to fill it; take a look through our selection of dining furniture as well as seating to relax in at the end of a long day – or if you’re lucky enough a bubbling hot tub or swimming pool!
For all our wine lovers, we have brought you some of the latest wine coolers for you to ponder; get the best out of your beverages by storing them at the correct temperature.
Our readers’ homes this issue are all equally stunning. Stuart shows us his beautiful Georgian home in Holywood, County Down that he had renovated to add more of a contemporary twist with more natural light. Next we head down to Co. Wicklow for our two southern homes; June lovingly restored and transformed a partially ruined cowshed on her parents’ farmland and what she got was a build full of heart and soul, not to mention the amazing gardens which surround it at Blessington. Over to Greystones, Jacqueline and Adrian transformed their bungalow with a loft conversion and rear extension, which resulted in a beautiful individual styled, family home.
After a visit with Andrew Ryan Furniture, Stephen and Eileen knew they could get their dream kitchen that would fully complement their Edwardian style home; and that’s exactly what they got, with a stunning handmade walnut design.
Our cookery pages this issue feature recipes from Limerick-born Irish celebrity TV chef Stuart O’Keeffe, who is appearing at 2016 Taste of Dublin. Taken from his cookbook ‘The Quick Six Fix’, they are quick and tasty options for breakfast, lunch or dinner.
Just in time for the Olympics, we travel to Rio and discover all that the Brazilian city has to offer. Closer to home we travel around Ireland and explore some of our island’s best glamping spots!
