Homegrown Harvest

Few things compare to the satisfaction of harvesting fresh fruit from your own garden. Our gardening expert Conrad McCormick has a few recommendations.

Before choosing which fruits to grow, it’s important to assess the space you have available in your garden. Fruit trees and bushes come in many sizes, and selecting the appropriate varieties will ensure they flourish in your space. For small gardens or those with limited space, dwarf or semi-dwarf fruit trees are ideal, these can even be suitable for container gardening. Fruit bushes, such as blueberries or gooseberries, also work well in compact spaces. If you have a medium or large garden, you have more flexibility and can plant standard-sized apple, pear, or plum trees, which may grow up to five meters tall and produce larger crops.
