Now more than ever, there are a number of sustainable flooring options to boost your home’s eco-credentials, from sustainable cork to hardwood, and ceramic and porcelain tiles.

By its nature, porcelain is an environmentally friendly flooring and cladding material. In fact, it’s so hardwearing that it’s recognised as having the longest lifetime potential of any building material. Mandy Little, owner of Porcellana Tile Studio, Belfast gives us her expert comment on this hardwaring finish. ‘When using porcelain tiles in our homes many of us think initially of the aesthetic appeal and suitability of the tile for the project. However, more and more, we are now considering the sustainability of everything we buy and use and the great news is, tiles are highly sustainable.
