Decorate To Celebrate

A little bit of tradition, a dash of modern and a whole lot of fun make this elegantly renovated period terrace in Portobello, Dublin, shine bright at Christmas.

All the decorations in Mona and Rob’s home have been collected over the last five years since they moved into this Victorian red brick in Portobello. ‘Some of the decorations are new, some are vintage, I definitely prefer natural materials such as wood, paper and brass, foraged is the best,’ says Mona. The search for this house proved to be a frustrating experience, they were ‘sale agreed’ five times over a three year period. ‘We looked at a mix of modern and older properties and even a site for a new build. Our luck finally changed with this property, the sale actually closed without any problems,’ explains Mona.
