In charming Churchtown, Co. Cork, Mary-Claire and Sulley’s home renovation is a stunning example of their commitment to preserving its 19th-century heritage while creating a beautiful modern living space.

Purchased in the summer of 2022, this historic property, built in 1836, was a daunting project. By the time the couple took possession, the house had been vacant for over a decade and was in a state of disrepair. However, armed with passion and Sulley’s skillset as a carpenter, they embarked on an ambitious renovation journey, transforming the derelict building into a stunning residence, completed just in time for Christmas 2023. ‘We’re absolutely loving it,’ Mary-Claire says as she reflects on their journey. ‘We moved in about 11 months ago, just in time for Christmas. Although the renovation was intense, we’re thrilled with how it turned out.’
