Having spent 25 years visiting Connemara from their home in Greyabbey, County Down, Philip and Alison purchased this beautiful lodge in which to enjoy their downtime in the area.

A keen fisherman, Philip and his wife Alison decided to buy a house in Connemara so that they could spend their downtime in the comfort of their own home, close to all the best fishing for both salmon and trout, and some of the most beautiful walks in the country. Initially they viewed Garraunbaun House, a Georgian-style country home built in 1852 near Ballinaskill Bay overlooking Garraun Lough and the Twelve Pins, but the house was far too big for the two of them. However, the estate agent mentioned that the nearby Garraunbaun Lodge was also for sale so they went to view that too.
