This small terrace has been sympathetically renovated and cleverly extended, it is now double its original size and a tastefully decorated family home.Having rented properties in the city centre, the owners of this period property had grown used to the buzz of the metropolis with its lively restaurants and bars and were keen to buy their first home together somewhere in town. ‘We hadn’t really considered looking outside the city, we had looked at a couple of apartments in the city centre, but nothing really suited us. We happened upon this house by chance, located in the fashionable area of Blackrock, an area we hadn’t really considered,’ they explain. Knowing that it would stretch them financially they could see the potential value of this property and although they had never tackled a renovation project before, were open to the possibilities of taking it on. ‘We found this quaint little terraced villa built in 1838 up for auction, it was an executor sale from a lovely family whose father had passed away, it had heaps of character which is what drew us to it, but it needed extensive modernisation’ the couple explain.
