Labour Of Love

Marc and Gayle’s elegant coastal home in Bangor has been a labour of love, with the couple having to rebuild their dream home, retaining only its original façade.

When Marc and Gayle bought this beautiful late Victorian house back in 2005, it had been divided and inhabited as a two-resident property, so they sensitively restored it back to one home, which they enjoyed for many years. Sadly, in 2014, the house had some structural issues which led to the couple being advised to demolish their beloved family home. ‘After spending a considerable amount of money repairing the house, in 2016, we sought advice from a highly skilled engineer, who confirmed that demolition was the only way to move forward. We were devastated as this was our family home, with a lot of memories. Planning authorised us to demolish the house, apart from the original frontage which had to be retained,’ explains Gayle.
