Creating a light filled open-plan kitchen, dining, living space has given this much loved Dublin home a new lease of life.

Home to Philip, a designer for Mastercard, his wife Emma, a merchant success specialist for Pinterest, and their ten year old son, this 1970’s three bed semi, located in a quiet cul de sac in Clonsilla, was Phil’s childhood home. Having a huge sentimental attachment to it Phil was keen to stay true to the spirit of the house. ‘I have fond memories of the old home, my mother baking in the kitchen and the wonderful smells, particularly of freshly baked bread. My father had a love for music and there were stereos and speakers dotted around the house, so music was also very much part of the place. There were some great parts of the house that we loved, we wanted to make sure we focused on elevating the good things, like the oak floors, the timber ceilings and the old fireplace, and removing what we felt was a bit dated,’ explains Phil.
