Walnut continues to be a strong design story for dining going into 2020 as we’ve seen demand at Habitat for dining tables and chairs in this finish increase more than any other over the last few seasons,’ comments Kate Butler, Head of Design for Habitat. ‘As a material, walnut sets a grown-up, sophisticated tone made even more popular due to the resurgence of interest in mid-century design (in which walnut was a favourite material) and the current interior trend for mixing in vintage pieces alongside contemporary designs. Lighting too has seen a move on in the dining space with the statement chandelier making a return in popularity – with modern, sculptural lighting pieces using LED technology being grouped together in multiples along the length of the dining table for dramatic visual impact. We’ve also seen more customers opting for fitting multiple electrical pendant cables over their dining tables meaning that you can update your pendant shades as and when you want to create a different look. We’ve expanded our range of statement easy-fit shades to cater for this using a new range of materials and shapes that create dramatic impact.’Read more in the February issue…
